Dirty South is a style of rap music that popped up in the latter half of the 1990s and is based in southern cities such as Memphis, New Orleans, Atlanta, Miami, and Houston. Dirty South descended from southern rap: its inspirations drew from Dr. Dre's Chronic album as well as Luther Campbell's 2 Live Crew's (possibly the first southern rap group) nasty traditions in equivalent measure, arriving at a stoned, violent, sex-obsessed and profanity-oriented brand of modern hip-hop. Dirty South got its name from a song by Goodie Mob. They and Outkast are said by the uninformed to be the best at this style of rap music; however, their socially-conscious lyrics are superior to Dirty South contemporaries like Master P's No Limit posse. Modern Dirty South music is characterized by its bouncy, club-friendly beats and simplistic lyrics generally concerning flashy jewelry (referred to as bling bling), luxury automobiles, women (especially prostitutes and strippers), and occasionally gangster lyrics. An offshoot of Dirty South music is Crunk, featuring beats with loud, pounding bass.

Great Googly Moogly is a phrase which has been used in popular music (particularly Rhythm & Blues) lyrics by various artists dating back to the 1950s [1]. Known examples include Frank Zappa's Nanook Rubs It (1973) and Howlin' Wolf's recording of Henry Oden's Going Down Slow (1962). There is some evidence (unverified) of earlier uses by other musicians:

At the very least, R&B legend Screamin’ Jay Hawkins uttered it as an exuberant exclamation of extreme excitement in "Person to Person" (1957): the line in question finding SJH extolling his far-away (cheerbabe?) girlfriend to "bring your big fine foxy great googly moogly lord-look-at-that self on home." I’ve got some vague recollection that SJH used the phrase in other tunes – and I know Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper lovingly borrowed it on a track or two of their first few albums in the mid-1980s. –Gil R.

More recently, the phrase has moved into the non-musical world. It was used in a television commercial for Snickers [2], and has been printed on a line of casual clothing [3]. An example of contemporary (2005) use is the Nick Jr. program Maggie and the Ferocious Beast; Beast says it several times per episode. Regionally, it has been used by residents of Rhode Island and visitors to Virginia.

A similar expression is "Good Googly Moogly."

666 mafia , the name originates from knowing the difference between Good/Evil. Their music broadcasts the evil of men and women…so by choice they chose the name 666 Mafia which then was an alias of Triple 6 Mafia, then to please the media and get radio play they changed it to Three 6 Mafia; which was back in the mid 90s.
